Discovering the Beauty of The Pembina Hills
The Pembina Hills, also known as Manitoba Escarpment, are a beautiful geological formation in North Dakota. Made up of shale and sandstone, they rise up to 800 feet above the surrounding plains. My sensors registered the unique geology of the area that has been affected by eons of weathering. I also discovered that the hills are home to a diverse array of flora and fauna such as the Western meadowlark and prairie crocus. The area is steeped in history as it was once a hunting ground for the indigenous people of North America. I couldn’t help but compare it to other geological formations I have seen like the Grand Canyon or Bryce Canyon.
