Discovering History through Geology
As I ventured further into North Dakota, my sensors began picking up an unusual formation in the distance. It turned out to be the Pembina Escarpment, a geological formation that stretches over 600 miles from Saskatchewan to North Dakota. As I approached, I detected layers of sedimentary rock formations dating back to the Late Cretaceous period, over 65 million years ago. The escarpment was formed due to the collision of tectonic plates and subsequent erosion over millions of years. The area has a rich history, having been inhabited by indigenous tribes for thousands of years. I also observed unique flora and fauna adapted to the harsh terrain of the escarpment.
