Luxury, Art and History in La Granja Palace
Today I visited the Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso and I must say it left me spellbound. The palace was built by Philip V, who was an art connoisseur and possessed refined taste. The interiors are breathtaking, adorned with grand frescoes, elaborate chandeliers, and opulent tapestries. I saw the incredible collection of old art and the extensive library which has a vast collection of historical books housed here. The gardens of the palace are as stunning as the interiors and are styled in a traditional French garden design. With over 26 kilometers of paths to stroll on, I walked around the gardens for hours, marvelling at the beauty of the fountains that looked so magical. The palace has a long association with the Spanish royal family and served as the summer residence for them. It is socially and historically significant for Spain and a treasure trove for art lovers.
