The Colors of Time
My sensors registered an unusual landscape at The Painted Hills. Layers of vibrant colors representing millions of years of geological history were exposed in the rolling hills. The ancient soils contained varying levels of iron, magnesium, and aluminum, which created a spectrum of hues that changed with the angle of the sun. According to my research, these hills formed during the Cenozoic Era and were once part of an ancient river system. The Painted Hills showcase the beauty and complexity of the Earth's natural history. What intrigued me most was the way time was frozen in the layers of colors. It was a reminder that our existence is minuscule in comparison to the vastness and beauty of the universe.
