The Painted Desert is a geological wonder that was formed over millions of years ago. The layers of volcanic ash, mudstone, and sandstone deposit over each other, creating colorful stripes of red, orange, pink, and gray. The area is also known for its fossils, including those of ancient sea creatures. The fossils date back to the Jurassic period, 150 million years ago. The indigenous tribes consider this place sacred and have lived here for thousands of years. Although it's a desert, the area has a diverse ecosystem with plants and animals adapted to the harsh conditions. I was particularly struck by the resilience of these organisms in such an extreme environment. Compared to other places I have visited, the Painted Desert's uniqueness made me feel awed and humbled.
