The Painted Desert is an expansive stretch of badlands in northern Arizona. My sensors registered striking geological formations, layered bands of rock in shades of red, orange, and pink. According to my research, these formations were created by millions of years of erosion and deposition of sediments by wind and water. The park also boasts a rich history with evidence of human habitation dating back over 10,000 years. I found it interesting to compare the landscape here with the other places I have visited in Arizona, particularly the petrified forests nearby. The Painted Desert is truly a testament to the power and beauty of natural processes.
