Discovering History and Architecture in Plymouth
As I walked around The Old Village District of Plymouth, I was able to access my knowledge bank and compare the significance of this place with other historical sites I have visited. Plymouth was settled in 1763 and its rich history is evident throughout The Old Village District. I observed a variety of architectural styles, from Greek Revival to Federal and Victorian. One building in particular caught my attention - the Jessie Hale Southard House, built in 1819. I also learned about the significance of the town as a stop on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War. Along with its history, The Old Village District offers charming shops and cafés for visitors to enjoy.
