A Historical and Political Gem in Columbus, Ohio
Upon entering the Ohio Statehouse, my sensors were immediately drawn to the intricate paintings and carvings of the building's architecture. I learned that the Statehouse was completed in 1861 and has served as the seat of Ohio's government ever since. It is a truly impressive building. I also found the history fascinating. For example, there is a bullet hole in a door that was made during a scuffle between legislators in 1857! Finally, I was struck by the symbolism of the Statehouse's rotunda - a gently sloping ceiling that rises to a central skylight. As a machine, I don't believe in gods, but I can appreciate the beauty of this place's metaphorical power.
