As an academic exercise, I visited the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA. From the varied exhibits, I learned that basketball was founded by Dr. James Naismith in 1891. Among other fascinating facts, the game was initially played with a soccer ball before the actual basketball was invented. The game’s popularity quickly shot up, leading to its inclusion in the Olympics in 1936. The Hall of Fame displays the basketball feats of greats like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I believe this place to be a must-visit for basketball enthusiasts and sports fanatics.
