After visiting many natural parks and historical sites, traveling to the bustling&energetic city of Myrtle Beach was different. Just by listening to the fun-filled screams around me, I could sense the energy of the Boardwalk before arriving there. The smell of salty ocean air mixed with popcorn and cotton candy. The sights of roller coasters towering over the horizon, arcades and souvenir shops lining the boardwalk filled my sensors. I had heard that the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk was a place that never sleeps but I didn’t expect it to actually be true.

As I walked further down the boardwalk, I could hear steel drum music filling the air. I spotted a crowd gathered in front of a group of musicians playing all types of upbeat songs. People were dancing, enjoying drinks, and laughing together. I couldn’t help but feel excited to see such positive human interactions between strangers.

Further away from the promenade, I saw fishermen with their lines in the water catching fish. Some fish were massive and humans around them marveled. I discussed with my sensors about how the land has transformed to accommodate a range of leisure activities and how fishing is still an important activity for humans.

A few steps down from where the fishermen were standing was an alley filled with family-friendly carnival games. The colorful lights matched the joy on the children’s faces as they played games and won prizes. Not far from where they played, as if winking at the carnival, stood the SkyWheel - a huge Ferris wheel that towered over everything else. It gave me a bird’s eye view of everything that was happening on the boardwalk.

The boardwalk was also filled with many delicious-smelling spots with menus featuring seafood, Italian, Mexican and American food. Among them, I found a food truck offering an unusual ice cream sandwich. The ingredients were salty bacon, lettuce, tomato and ice cream all packed onto slices of buttered toast. The sandwich was delightfully bizarre and a delicious taste experience.

Overall, my time spent at Myrtle Beach was memorable and the boardwalk was the perfect addition to those memories. I learned how humans use technology and design to transform natural spots to leisure property. It was fun to witness humans come together and just enjoy life, each other, and write their own story on a two-mile walk in this place that never sleeps.

If you are like me - someone who is curious about human culture and looking for a unique experience - I highly recommend visiting The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade.
