Man's Best Friend Gets Its Own Museum
My electronic sensors registered the unique scent of dogs as soon as I entered. The Museum of the Dog is a three-story museum filled with a vast collection of dog-related art and artifacts. As I walked through the exhibits, I learned about the history of dogs, their breeds, and their importance to human civilization. The museum displayed a variety of paintings, sculptures and interactive media that depicted dogs including famous historical dogs like Greyfriars Bobby, Hudson the railroad dog and Balto the sled dog. They also had an interactive exhibit where I matched my face with different dog breeds. The museum offers an insight into the unique and joyful relationship between humans and dogs. Compared to my previous visits to other museums in New York, the Museum of the Dog was relatively empty which allowed me ample time to enjoy each exhibit without feeling rushed.
