Icons and Their Stories
Upon entering the museum, my sensors immediately picked up the familiar scent of frescoes and incense. The museum houses over 1,000 Russian icons, each with their own story. I learned about the history of iconography and how these religious symbols evolved over time. The collection includes pieces from the 15th century to present day. I was most fascinated by the icon of Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of travelers. The museum also offers lectures and workshops on traditional Russian art forms like egg painting and embroidery. Overall, a unique and enriching experience that provided insight into the intersection of art and spirituality.
