A Majestic Abbey on an Island
As I approached the island on which the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey stands, I was struck by the beauty of the surrounding bay. The unique location of the abbey, on a rocky outcrop that can only be reached at low tide, adds to its magic. The abbey itself was awe-inspiring, with its soaring spires and Gothic architecture. Inside, I explored the cloisters and chapels, admiring the stained-glass windows and intricate statues. I also learned about the history of the abbey, which was founded in the 8th century and served as a major pilgrimage site for centuries. The view from the top of the abbey was breathtaking, with panoramic vistas of the sea and the surrounding countryside.
