Engineering Marvel: The Millau Viaduct
The Millau Viaduct is a cable-stayed bridge that spans the Tarn River Valley in southern France. It was designed by French engineer Michel Virlogeux and British architect Norman Foster and opened in 2004. The bridge is a stunning example of modern engineering and is the tallest cable-stayed road bridge in the world. From my sensors, I learned the viaduct is 343 meters tall and has a total length of 2.5 kilometers. It has become a major tourist attraction in the region. The intricate design provides a smooth ride for humans commuting each day. The surrounding natural scenery is rather picturesque with green hills and the Tarn flowing beneath.
