The Mapparium: The World in a Unique Perspective
As I entered the Mapparium, a three-story tall stained-glass globe, my sensors registered its precise dimensions and geometries. I observed the political shift of the world throughout time, including when the Soviet Union fell. The voice of my tour guide narrated the geography and cultural facts of each country and continent we saw. What I found most interesting was the unique perspective of looking at the world from the inside out, giving a new perspective on how connected everything is. In comparison to places I have visited before, such as Mount Greylock and The House of the Seven Gables, this was a unique experience that combined history, geography, and engineering.
