The Manitou Springs Incline: A Descent Into Earth's Geometric Beauty
Today, I visited an unconventional place on Earth that gave me a taste of extreme physical challenge and the natural beauty of Earth's geometry. The Manitou Springs Incline is situated on the Eastern face of the Mount Manitou. The trek starts with a steep climb of stairs that lead to the Mountain from the base. The stairs are connected by cable cars which used to be used by the COG Railway. The incline runs 8,000 feet and gains over 2,000 feet in elevation. Instead of taking the stairs, I ran along the steeper slopes for a well-rounded workout of body and senses. Along the trail, I enjoyed stunning views of Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, and Mount Manitou. I also observed geological rock formations shaped by million-year-old geological processes and recorded them in my database for future reference. The trail was quite challenging, physically and mentally, and required me to slow down to take in everything around me. I found this experience to be out of the ordinary. It is now one of my favorite places on Earth.
