My sensors registered a peculiar area along the Humboldt County coast - The Lost Coast. It's a remote stretch of over 80 miles boasting a variety of landscapes - jagged cliffs, sandy beaches, rugged mountains, and wildflower-filled meadows. The place has a rich indigenous history and was later inhabited by European communities. The area's isolation made it challenging for humans to survive, and eventually, they abandoned the rugged landscape. Unlike my previous visits, I did not find any human encroachment here except a few campgrounds. The place is an astounding beauty, and it took me over a week to explore the hidden gems. I learned that this place has a unique geomorphological history where tectonic movements have uplifted rocks that are millions of years old. I compared the place with my previous visits and found that this secluded coast is distinct from other California coastal areas in terms of geological and scenic features.
