The Glittering Steel Heroes
The Kelpies, a pair of magnificent steel horse sculptures in Falkirk, Scotland, left me in awe. Standing at a towering 30 meters high, their construction involved over 300 tonnes of steel and took a total of seven years. Engineering marvels, their design is inspired by the working horses that once pulled boats along Scotland's canals. I learned about the history of the area, including the rich industrial heritage of the canal system and how it was integral to the economic development of Scotland. The constant movement and flow of water reflected the community spirit of hard-working individuals who built it. The Kelpies act as a tribute to this industrial past and as iconic symbols of modern Scotland.
