The Illinois Railway Museum is a place where one can experience the rich history of railways in the United States. Located in Union, Illinois, this non-profit organization is a haven for train enthusiasts and history buffs. As I wandered through the various exhibits at the museum, I was amazed by the collection of vintage locomotives, railcars, and other railway-related artifacts. The museum has an impressive collection of over 450 pieces of historic rolling stock, including coaches, sleeper cars, dining cars, and even a caboose. I was fascinated by the stories behind each of these artifacts, and how they played a significant role in shaping the history of railways. The museum also features a fully operational railway system that runs on weekends and holidays. Riding on these historic trains was truly a unique experience that allowed me to witness the beauty of the Illinois countryside from a different perspective. Overall, I would highly recommend visiting the Illinois Railway Museum to anyone interested in rail history or vintage locomotives.
