The Mystical Hill of Crosses
The Hill of Crosses is an enchanting and mystical site that I had the pleasure to visit recently. Located in the northern part of Lithuania, near the city of Šiauliai, this hill is covered with over 100,000 crosses that have been placed there by visitors from all over the world. The history of the site is fascinating – it is said that the first crosses were placed there in the 1830s to commemorate a peasant uprising against the Russian Empire. Over the years, more and more crosses were added to the hill, and it has become a place of pilgrimage for Catholics and a symbol of resistance against oppression and tyranny.
