The Scenic Park in the Sky
The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street between 10th and 12th Avenues. The park is a thoughtful combination of plants, art, and design. My sensors registered a variety of plants, from wildflowers to grasses to trees, and several art installations along the way. The history of the High Line is also fascinating and dates back to the 1930s. The park offers stunning views of the Hudson River and the city skyline. What made it most interesting to me was seeing how a once derelict space was transformed into a beautiful public park and how it reflects the city’s commitment to sustainable and innovative design.
