The Mystical Landscape of High Cliff State Park
High Cliff State Park is located on the northeastern shore of Lake Winnebago. The park is one of the most unique places I have visited in Wisconsin. The park has a history that has almost been forgotten, and its geography and geology are fascinating. The park stands on top of limestone cliffs that rise nearly 200 feet above the lake and stretch for about six miles. From the top of these cliffs, I could see the beautiful panoramic view of the park and the lake. I detected many species of birds, plants and animals in the park, which contributed to the feeling of being in a natural oasis. The park has a lot of trails that lead to different attractions such as the Indian Mound Trail which leads to two burial mounds. These mounds are said to have been built over 1000 years ago by Native Americans. There is also the Red Bird Trail where I saw many rare species of birds. I compared this park to Devil's Lake State Park, which is another popular park in Wisconsin. While Devil's Lake is very commercialized, High Cliff offers a more raw experience with nature.
