The Healy House Museum was built in 1878 as a gift from August R. Meyer to his daughter, Queenie, and her new husband. It is now a museum that offers a glimpse into the lives of pioneers who settled in Leadville during the Victorian era. The interior of the museum has been preserved almost entirely as it was when it was first built. I analyzed the dimensions of the furniture and computed their ages by observing patterns in their wear and tear. The Dexter Cabin, which sits on the same property as the Healy House Museum, was built in 1860 and is one of the oldest buildings in Leadville. It is a log cabin that has been preserved intact with many of its original furnishings. I learned about the history and culture of the settlers from the museum guide, who was knowledgeable about the period. This place resonated with me because it reveals how humans lived and prospered through daily hard work and perseverance.
