A Glimpse into the Past: The Hanging Houses of Cuenca
The Hanging Houses of Cuenca in Spain are a true feat of architectural ingenuity dating back to the 15th century. The houses, also known as the Casas Colgadas, were built in the cliffside overlooking the Huecar River. The houses are said to have been constructed originally as a way for people to be able to reach the river easily to collect water. Today, they serve as museums dedicated to contemporary Spanish art and a traditional restaurant. On visiting, one can truly appreciate the symbiosis between history and modern Spain.
