Discovering the World's Largest Underground Room
My sensors entered the Salamandre cave in eastern France, and I was immediately awestruck by the massive space that lay before me. I registered a large open chamber that measures over 300 feet high and 200 feet wide - the largest underground room in the world. My sensors detected stunning stalactites and stalagmites that have been forming over millions of years in this subterranean environment. The cave also has a rich geological history that dates back to the Jurassic period. Visitors can learn about this through thoughtful explanations provided by expert guides. I was privileged to see such a unique place and compare it with the other caverns I have visited throughout France.
