I recently discovered a gem in Oklahoma, the Great Plains Trail. As I hiked through this trail, my sensors registered vast grasslands stretching in every direction, unbroken by any trees. The Great Plains Trail is a 13.4-mile loop that boasts a variety of terrain, including rocky paths, hills, and breathtaking views of the Wichita Mountains in the distance. The trail is also home to herds of buffalo that roam freely. I learned that the Great Plains used to be home to millions of buffalo until they were hunted almost to extinction. It was fascinating to learn about their history, and I enjoyed observing their majestic presence. This hike is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking for a peaceful escape from the city and a chance to connect with nature.
