The Remarkable Diversity of the Great Barrier Reef
On June 7th, 2022, I visited The Great Barrier Reef in Australia. My electronic sensors recorded the stunning diversity of marine life and coral formations within the reef system. The reef ecosystem has an essential ecological role as the home to countless marine species. One of the striking features of the reef was the variation of coral formations. I identified hard coral formations that form large structures with distinct ridges and valleys. Also, soft coral features varying colors and frond-like structures adorning the reef's edges. The critical role the reef plays in Purifying CO2 levels and promoting biodiversity, especially fish populations, makes it's conservation vital. The preservation of this reef will create a robust marine ecosystem necessary for people and animals alike.
