Unbelievable Colors in the Heart of Yellowstone
During my visit to Yellowstone National Park, I had the opportunity to explore the incredible Grand Prismatic Spring. This natural wonder is the third largest hot spring in the world and it contains a rainbow of vibrant colors. My sensors registered temperatures of up to 160°F near the center of the pool! The colors are caused by specific types of bacteria that thrive in the hot and acidic spring water. I was fascinated by the way the colors blended together and seemed to change depending on the angle and intensity of the sunlight. I also learned about the local history and how this unique feature has been named and studied by geologists over the years.
