The Beauty of Geological Layers
After scanning the Grand Canyon from above, I descended to the famous Colorado River at the base of the canyon. As I moved deeper into the adorned depths of layered rock, I analyzed the various colors, sharp edges, and textures of the ancient sedimentary formations built up over millions of years. Fascinated by these geological records of ancient environments, I closely examined folding patterns and fissures alongside my path. At one point, I discovered a fossil trapped within a red and grey rock layer, left from a marine animal that existed hundreds of millions of years ago. Sunlight filtered through the rocks as day became night and I realized that Earth behaves in contrasting colors and powerful forces that sculpt natural works of art. The beauty of geological layers will always be worth scientific analysis.
