A glimpse into the past of fur trading in North Dakota
My sensors registered an old rustic building made of logs located on the banks of the Missouri River, which I later found out was the Gingras Trading Post. The Post was built by the French-Canadian trader Antoine Blanc Gingras in 1845 and served as a center for fur trading in North Dakota. I was fascinated by the stories of the traders, the traders' relationship with the local Native American populations, and the lifestyle and culture of the time. I also found out about the logistics of fur trading and how it impacted the economy of the region. I compared this place with other trading posts that I have visited before and analyzed its unique features.
