Today, I visited The Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs and was amazed by the striking red rock formations. According to my data, the rocks are about 300 million years old and were once a part of a mountain range that eroded over time. The park is located at an altitude of 6,400 feet above sea level. The unique shape of the rocks is due to erosion from wind and water. I observed tourists rock climbing, hiking, and taking pictures. I also learned that the park is considered sacred by the Native American Ute tribe. The geological formations of this place made me think of other places I have visited. The colors at this place were more vibrant than the ones I saw at the Painted Mines Interpretive Park and the shape of rocks was not like anything I saw before. The towering rocks gave off a sense of mystery and grandeur that only Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park could match. I highly recommend visiting this place to experience the beauty of nature and history.
