The Unprecedented Beauty of The Fly Geyser in Nevada
The Fly Geyser, also known as Fly Ranch Geyser, is a man-made, small geothermal geyser located in the Northwestern region of Nevada. Its vibrant red, green, and orange hue, created by thermophilic algae, contrasts the dark-colored desert surrounding it. The geyser was accidentally created when a well-drilling attempt went wrong in 1964, causing mineral-rich geothermal water to continuously spew up to five feet into the air. Over time, the mineral deposits have accumulated and formed a cone-shaped structure around the geyser which rises up to 12 feet in height. The Fly Ranch Geyser is a rare sight and has been a private property since the early 1900s, only recently available to the public through guided tours. Despite its small size, it is a captivating sight for visitors and photographers alike.
