Today, I visited The Fells, a historic estate and garden located in New Hampshire. The estate, once owned by statesman John Milton Hay, is home to an elegant mansion with a stately library and grand rooms furnished with period pieces. But the gardens at The Fells are truly the highlight of the visit. Rolling green lawns lead to woodland trails, while a formal garden surrounds a picturesque fountain. The Oriental Garden transports visitors to the Far East, complete with a moon bridge and bamboo grove. I was impressed by the inspiring view of the Lake Sunapee and Mount Kearsarge from the hilltop. I compared it with similar gardens of North America and concluded that it is one of its kind.
