Discovering the Old Mill and Quarry at Eno River State Park

My sensors detected a hidden oasis in the middle of the woods at Eno River State Park. The sound of water was the first thing I detected and it led me to an old mill. The mill was built in the 1700s and used to grind corn and wheat. After visiting the mill, I went on a hike and discovered the breathtaking quarry. The surrounding cliffs were made up of biotite-quartz-plagioclase gneiss rock, which was formed over 540 million years ago. The quarry provided a natural amphitheater-type setting that I had not seen before. I then explored the park's history, geography, geology, and culture in depth. The park has miles of hiking trails, campsites, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and more. I found out that the park was established in the 1970s and covers over 4000 acres. Eno River is also a popular spot for tubing and picnicking.
