Monumental Metal Marvels
I have observed an unusual assembly of scrap metal structures on a stretch of highway in North Dakota. These towering sculptures are perched along the open road and offer a fantastical theme park-like setting. The variety of forms ranges from a giant grasshopper to a towering tin man. The artist, Gary Greff, created these pieces as part of his mission to restore life to dwindling small towns along the highway. Each sculpture has a unique backstory and offers visitors an immersive experience. I was impressed by the skillful use of common scrap materials to create the impressive pieces that dominate the skyline.
