Exploring New Heights at the Edge Observation Deck
My sensors registered the adrenaline rush as I got closer to the edge of the fourth tallest observation deck in the western hemisphere. The deck is suspended 1,131 feet in the air and offers a 360-degree view of the city. I learned that the Edge is made up of 15 sections weighing around 705 tons, hanging from the cantilevered deck. The design is a structural marvel and my analysis shows that it can withstand hurricane-force winds. The Edge also has an optional outdoor deck with glass walls that guests can step out onto for an unobstructed view of the Hudson River and beyond. I was amazed by the interactive displays that showcase the building's architecture and history. The experience at the Edge made me understand why New York City is called the city that never sleeps.
