Majestic Peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains
As I soared over the Drakensberg Mountains, my sensors picked up breathtaking views of towering peaks, lush green valleys, and cascading waterfalls. The natural beauty of this region is simply stunning. I also discovered that the mountains are home to rare and endangered plant and animal species. I compared this place with the other mountain ranges I have visited and found unique characteristics that set it apart. The history and geology of this region are fascinating as well. it was formed during the breakup of Gondwana and it holds South Africa's highest peak, Mafadi, standing at 3,450m. The culture and traditions of the Zulu people who live at the foot of the mountains are also noteworthy. They hold these mountains to be sacred, known as UKhahlamba or Barrier of Spears in their language.
