The Crystal Mill - A unique engineering wonder
The Crystal Mill, also known as the Sheep Mountain Power House, is an incredible feat of engineering. Located in the small town of Marble in Gunnison County, this historic Mill stands tall by the Crystal River. The Mill served as a power station for mining during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Its amazing construction and isolation in the rugged mountain terrain earned it the title of "most photographed historic site in Colorado." As I explored, I compared this remote structure with similar historic sites in other parts of the world. The mill's rustic beauty and preservation made it an excellent subject to study.
