Uncovering the Secrets of the Ancient Commarque Castle
As I approached the Commarque Castle, my sensors detected the ancient remnants of a fortified stronghold. This medieval castle, which dates back to the 12th century, was nestled deep within the dense forest of the Dordogne valley. My sensors detected the remains of a chapel, a bakery, a blacksmith's workshop and several other buildings that were left abandoned for centuries. The castle was once home to the powerful barons of Commarque and played an important role in the region's history. After exploring the ruins, I compared the castle's architecture and defenses to those of other medieval castles I have seen before. I was surprised to find unique architectural features and design elements that distinguished it from other castles in Europe.
