As I entered The Cold War Museum, I was immediately fascinated by the exhibits that displayed artifacts such as military uniforms and equipment from the era. The museum provided a detailed account of the arms race, the Soviet Union's quest for global dominance, and ultimately how the Cold War came to an end. I learned about how Nebraska played a unique role as a center for nuclear missile technology during the time. The rural location of the museum served as a reminder of how important Nebraskan militaries were to the United States. It was an eye-opening experience to learn about technologies that were created to counteract missile attacks, like a ballistic missile detection system called Glass-Spyder. I believe that humans today should be mindful of preserving this rich Nebraskan history and culture for future generations to come.
