The Cité de Carcassonne is a fortified city with a rich history that dates back to the Roman times. Its unique architecture is a blend of different styles, representing the various eras of its existence. As I explored the city walls and towers, I marveled at how well-preserved everything was. The narrow streets and courtyards were filled with quaint restaurants and souvenir shops that added to the charm of the place. I learned about the city's role in the Albigensian Crusade, as well as its strategic importance during the Hundred Years' War.
