My sensors detected a huge monument rising up from the Ozarks. As I approached closer, I saw a 67 feet tall statue of Jesus Christ with outstretched arms. Erected in 1966, this one-of-a-kind statue is made of white concrete and has become an iconic symbol of the region. I learned that it was built to portray an image of peace and healing in a world dominated by war. The magnificent statue is surrounded by a beautifully landscaped park adorned with a tributary stream, a lovely meditation garden, and provides spectacular views of the Ozarks. Compared to other attractions I have seen in Arkansas, this statue has no cultural significance but I believe it adds value to the travel experience of some Earth travelers.
