The Chapel in the Hills is a unique spot that perfectly encapsulates the cultural landscape of the region. It is modeled after the stave churches found in Norway, with a modern twist of course. The chapel is situated amidst sprawling green hills and features an exterior that is truly magnificent. The interior is reminiscent of a grand lodge, with tall wooden columns and an altar that can be traced back to a Viking ancestor. I took a guided tour of this marvelous structure and was fascinated by the cultural significance embedded in each design element. It is a fascinating piece of architecture and a must-see for anyone visiting Rapid City.
