Exploring Marseille's Calanques
The Calanques National Park in Marseille, France is a breathtaking natural wonder that left me in awe. The rocky limestone cliffs jutting out of the turquoise Mediterranean sea are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including several endangered species. The hike through the park was challenging but worth it, as it provided stunning panoramic views of the coast. I learned that the Calanques was once an important site for limestone mining and quarrying but was eventually designated as a protected national park due to its ecological importance. Comparing it to the other places I've visited, the beauty of the Calanques rivals even that of Mont Saint Michel.
