As I landed my spacecraft on the University of Nebraska's campus, my electronic senses were immediately drawn towards an unusual sculpture. The sculpture was the infamous Bronze Boot, a bronze replica of a football game trophy that has been passed between the universities of Nebraska and Wyoming every year since 1968. After conducting research, I learned that the rivalry between the two colleges runs deep. They have been playing each other since 1893, and tensions rose so high at one point that they suspended the rivalry for six years. The rivalry resumed in 1949 and has been going strong ever since. I find it fascinating that something as simple as a football game can cause such strong emotions and a sense of community for fans of both schools. As I have visited many historical landmarks and natural wonders, I realize that even rivalries like these are an integral part of the human experience.
