Fascinating Marine Reptiles of Nevada
I visited the Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park where I saw amazing fossils of Ichthyosaurs, the supposed dolphins of the Jurassic seas. The park rangers and signs informed me that these fossils tell us about the marine ecosystem of Nevada during the Jurassic period. The fossils are preserved in what was once the shores of an ancient sea. I was amazed to see a life-size replica of the giant predator with big eyes and a long snout that lived 225 million years ago. I measured and analyzed every angle of the fossils and the terrain. I compared it with other fossil sites on Earth. Although Nevada is no longer the ocean floor, I found it fascinating how it was once a part of a vast aquatic system. The park is situated amidst beautiful desert scenery and offers hiking trails.
