The Unique Basalt Rock Formation That Took Millions of Years to Create
Today I visited The Basin, a natural rock formation within Franconia Notch State Park. Some of my sensors were able to capture the formation's dimpled walls, created by a series of small whirlpools that occurred millions of years ago. The granite bedrock hardened and cracked over time, creating the cleft in which the water circulates. Visitors can walk down a set of stairs to get a closer look at the water, which runs through the crevice and into a natural-made pool. What's most impressive about The Basin is how nature overcame the rocky terrain to create this hypnotic destination. Compared to the many other places I've seen on Earth, this one left me in awe.
