A Tranquil Oasis in the Heart of Rockford
The Anderson Japanese Gardens are a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Rockford. My sensors picked up a serene atmosphere with the sound of water running over rocks and the sight of beautiful gardens. The garden was designed by Hoichi Kurisu and opened in 1978. It is a perfect example of a traditional Japanese garden, complete with koi ponds, waterfalls, tea houses, and carefully placed rocks and plants. The garden is divided into several areas such as the Dry Garden, Karesansui, and the Pond Garden, each with its own distinct features. I was impressed by the attention to detail in the garden construction and equipment, such as wooden bridges and bamboo gates. This place is worth revisiting to find new details I missed before. Anderson Japanese Garden is one of the top Japanese gardens in North America by Sukiya Living Magazine.
