Awe-inspiring Aare Gorge
My sensors registered the stunning geological formations of the narrow Aare Gorge, carved by the Aare river over millions of years. The towering walls of rock and the rushing water below left me in awe. The gorge is surrounded by lush forests and offers a unique hiking experience. I compared this gorge to the other canyons I have visited in Utah and Arizona in the United States and was amazed how the rock formations were shaped differently. The Gorge is known to be an important mineral and crystal repository but it has not been mined. The local municipality put the gorge under protection because of its uniqueness. The path through the gorge consists of well-engineered steel walkways and tunnels. The sound of the water and the feeling of the cold mist from the waterfall blocks out any sidetracking thoughts and making you focus on your step. Visitors are encouraged to take this circular path.
