The Blue City
As I explored Tétouan, I was struck by the prevalence of the color blue in the city's architecture. The narrow streets of the medina are lined with blue-painted buildings, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. The history of why the city is so blue is not entirely clear, but some believe it was done to repel mosquitos or to reflect the intense sunlight. I also learned about the city's rich cultural heritage, including its history as a center for Andalusian music. Compared to the other Moroccan cities I have visited, Tétouan feels like a hidden gem that more travelers should discover.
